Description
Bluegrass star Vincent, looking as glam as it gets and singing like the Spirit of Christmas Present, pours her heart, soul, and mandolin finesse into 12 holiday songs. Both original and traditional, they include "Winter Wonderland," "Oh Christmas Tree," "Jingle Bells," "The Christmas Song," and a jolly "Twelve Days of Christmas" (on which she's joined by her entire musical family). Folks unfamiliar with bluegrass will want to give this a try, both for the two-time Grammy nominee's expertise in that genre (heard to full effect on "Christmas Time's A-Comin'" and "Oh Christmas Tree"); for her swinging, jazzy takes on "Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" and "Let It Snow"; and for her heartfelt versions of "Silent Night," "Beautiful Star of Bethlehem," and "Away in a Manger" (accompanied by Celtic harp and with Sharon White Skaggs and Cheryl White on background vocals).

"The multi-award-winning bluegrass vocalist sings pristine yet distinctive renditions of religious and popular carols, as well as her own catchy new composition 'Christmas Time at Home.' The musical approaches vary more than you'd expect, from breakdowns, of course, to hillbilly jazz and a wittily tone-deaf run through 'The Twelve Days of Christmas.' Three and one half stars."—LA Daily News

"Vincent, often called the queen of bluegrass, has released a Yuletide collection that perfectly captures the feeling and flavor one would imagine in a mountain Christmas celebration…. Includes 'Christmas Time at Home,' an original by Vincent, who this year became the International Bluegrass Music Association's 'Female Vocalist of the Year' for the seventh consecutive time."—Pittsburgh Tribune-Review
